The first thing we want you to understand is that while laser may be the most well-known procedure for getting you out of glasses, it is not the only procedure we can offer you here at Medownick Laser Clinic. and is not even the most common. 

When you first come to our clinic, we will assess your vision free of charge, with the goal of uncovering the best procedure for your specific eyes, vision, and needs. 

To help us make this recommendation, we will ask you about your goals, your lifestyle, and what you hope to achieve. We’ll combine what you tell us with our clinical testing, and, based on all of this information, recommend the best path forward to help you achieve your goals and enjoy long-lasting benefits.

In may ways, we'd like you to think of our clinical team and surgeons as being a little bit like a master craftsperson. Ultimately, they are using their talent, skill and experience to give you the best possible natural vision. But there are many tools at their disposal to achieve those results.

Just as a master craftsperson will choose the best tool to achieve the best possible results and create a work of art, so to will our surgeons choose the best tools and procedures to achieve the very best possible results for your eyes.

Laser is certainly one of those tools, but it may just as well be that a different tool is even better for your vision. For example: 

• If you have cataracts (even very early signs of cataracts that are not impacting your vision), you may be suitable for laser or perhaps cataract removal will be a better, longer-term solution for you 
• If you are starting to experience the signs of presbyopia (the age-related need for reading glasses), it may be that lens replacement surgery will enable you to gain the lifelong benefits you are seeking 
• If you have very thin tissue in your cornea, we may recommend a procedure that doesn't take any more tissue from your eyes (such as implantable collamer lenses or intra-ocular lenses) to help you achieve your vision goals

We will talk you through all of your options, and explain the benefits and pros and cons of any procedures and recommendations we make for you, during your free assessment with us.

But ultimately, to find the right fit for you, we encourage you to focus less on the name of the procedure, and more on the experience you have, and the long-term outcomes you can achieve.
